Every May in Manhattan The Fashion Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art holds its annual fashion exhibition. Most know this as the Met Gala. Which is primarily famous for its celebrity attendees and their questionable fashion choices. The exhibit itself often gets overlooked as more people care to see whether or not Rihanna will show up in something see through. But the show itself is always something special. This year Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons was on display. Comme des Garçons is a polarizing fashion house so opinions often vary on the looks. And though Kawakubo herself has stated “Fashion is not art” Comme des Garçons seems to be the epitome of fashion AS art. Fun, vibrant and off-the-wall are words that come to mind when seeing a room full Comme des Garçons.
